Bethany Brice’s Psoriasis Journey

Bethany Brice’s Psoriasis Journey

Happy Psoriasis Awareness Month!

Please tell us a bit about yourself, and when were you diagnosed with Psoriasis?

My name is Bethany Brice, and I strive to raise awareness for Psoriasis.
I am a 22-years-old human living life in the fast lane.

When I was 7-years-old, I encountered a trampolining accident involving a hairline fracture upon my left ankle. Several weeks after my healing process from the fracture, Psoriasis started to appear in and around my scalp, further spreading to the rest of my body.
I do believe that my body experienced trauma due to the hairline fracture causing the outbreak in Psoriasis.

What foods do you avoid, and what foods do you eat to heal?

When it comes to dieting with Psoriasis, I have tried several lifestyle changes. Very recently, from January 2020 to July 2020, I inhabited a Vegan diet. During my vegan diet, my Psoriasis began to worsen. This puzzled me, as I was constantly told by dieticians that veganism would help.
After returning to eating meat again, my Psoriasis calmed.

I no longer avoid certain foods and eat according to my appetite.
However, my favorite healing foods are Avocado, Cucumber, Spinach, and Humous.

Do you avoid gluten, and what do you think about Gluten sensitivity in Psoriasis?

I do not usually avoid gluten in my diet. I am aware of the research surrounding gluten sensitivity within the Psoriasis sector, and I’m not convinced there is a clear connection.
Personally, I think Psoriasis may have other connections with the immune system and mental functions.

A lot of people ask what to eat for breakfast?

I do not have a specific breakfast menu. However, I do enjoy a pain au chocolate avec un café.

What are your top 3 Psoriasis Triggers?

My top 3 triggers are stress, frustration, and impatience.

Please share your Tips for healing, how do you fight flare-ups?

My healing mechanisms are meditation, yoga, breathwork, and smiling.

What would you tell those who are newly diagnosed and looking for answers?

To those humans who have been recently diagnosed, my advice would be not to let the skin condition control your life. You own it and embrace it. Make it yours.

Happy Psoriasis Awareness Month!
Peace and Love.
